| Accessibility/Registration The SDSU-FGCF suite is located in the Northern Plains Biostress Laboratory (SNP) and consists of several laboratory rooms containing various groupings of multiuse equipment necessary for studying the functions of genes (see map). The suite is accessible 24/7 for registered users. All SDSU faculty and students (and investigators in the SD BRIN system) can become registered users. Arrangements can be made for members from industry to become registered users on a contractual basis. To use any of the equipment, you must first: 1) 2) Get your SDSU ID activated so that you can open the core's swipe-card door-system into the SDSU-FGCF suite. To get your ID activated and receive a user-name and password, please send Mike Hildreth an email (michael.hildreth@sdstate.edu) containing your name (as it appears on your SDSU ID along with your ID number (located on the photo side of your ID, directly below your name). Your user name and password will be sent to you by return email. As a registered user, you can: 1) use the equipment as a "walk-in" user. For this, you only need to type your Pharos user name and password into the computer servicing the instrument you are wanting. The computer will then tell you how much usage time you have. For each instrument, there is a pre-set maximum usage time. 2) schedule a time-slot for each instrument prior to use. This can be done in each instrument page within the "FGCF Labs and Equipment" page for each instrument. The FGCF is a user run facility. Researchers are responsible for providing their own labor. Training is available either from the facilities director (Mike Hildreth) or from experienced users identified for certain equipment stations. Instructions and user information for some of the equipment is available at the “User Documentation” found in the FGCF Equipment pages associated with each instrument.
